We played a scenario out of the Battle Missions book. We used Warlord Traits and mysterious objectives to update the scenario for 6th ed.
The mission was Scorched Earth. This mission was quarters deployment with d3+2 objectives. We rolled a one so there were a total of 3 objectives.
The Professor and I won the roll of and we deployed first and went first. We each had 1500 points and Jedly had 3000.

We began the game determining which pieces of terrain would be burning or smoking. We chose the 2 pipes in the middle and rolled to see if they would be burning or smoking. I don't recall which they were but they did completely block line of sight through them, which was interesting.
We also included the 3 secondary objectives.
The Iron Warriors deploy far back and defensively:
Professor Chaos rolled the Warlord trait that allowed him to infiltrate d3 squads. He rolled 2 and infiltrated one squad of cultists and a squad of obliterators. Before he infiltrated he deployed to the left flank of the Iron Warriors.
The Grey Knights keep their Dredknight and Storm Raven in reserve. The rest of their army deploy.
The Iron Warriors begin their first turn with their heavy firepower stripping off hull points.
First blood goes to Chaos. The autocannons, lascannons and missile launchers start their assault on the enemy armour.
The Grey Knight landraider moves up and then gets wrecked by the constant barrage of heavy weapons. The Grey Knight Terminators emerge from the smoking ruins of the landraider and eye up the Iron Warriors who stopped their ride.
The Professor's army moves forward and out of the blue the Storm Raven flies on.
With a crack and a smell of ozone the DredKnight materializes out of thin air and promptly flames a large squad of cultists.
The Iron Warriors request some aid from the Professor's army in the form of a Vindicator. He kindly obliges.........
...........and blows a chunk out of the Grey Knight Terminators.
On the otherside of the board, the landraider got wrecked by the Storm Raven. And then the Storm Raven got blown up by the Obliterators. Ahriman stumbles out of the wreckage and shortly thereafter, the Grey Knight Librarian and the remaining terminators stagger from their crashed ride.
The Brother Captain lines up for an assault on some Iron Warriors.
The DredKnight tries to finish what he started by charging into the cultists again.
Ahriman and the Obliterators get dual charged by the Grey Knights.
The cultists try to hold on against the might of the DredKnight.
The Brother-Captain and his termi brother succesfully charge into the Iron Warriors. The Aspiring champion foolish challenges the captain to single combat and then promptly gets sliced in twain. The squad holds however and stays in that combat much longer than they probably should have.
The rest of the Iron Warrior army begins circling the wagons preparing to envelope the inevitable Grey Knight survivors of the combat. Morgoth and his squad of chosen also disembark and prepare for a possible charge.
The cultists fall back again. Those fools will be sacrificed after the battle.
The battle with the librarian, Ahriman, Grey Knight Termis and the Oblits rages on but eventually the Obliterators are the only ones left alive. The librarian channels his psychic powers through his force weapon and banishes Ahriman's soul to the warp.
The Brother-Captain eventually wins the battle and the entire Iron Warriors army opens fire. In a fury of las blasts, bolter shells and autocannon rounds, the Captain is utterly shredded. The Iron Warriors then move onto the objective.
Chaos is triumphant!
We won the game 8-4. We had 2 objectives, got first blood and slay the warlord. Jedly got one objective and slay the warlord.
It was a good game and the warpflame gargoyles did set a couple of grey knights on fire and did actually kill one.
I had a hell of a time killing his dreadnoughts, but had no problems with his landraider or razorbacks. Go figure.
Anyways great game and a fantastic way to kick off the weekend with a fun 2 on 1 thematic battle.
Up next the Iron Warriors take on the Death Guard.
