Harbour Cargo Takeover Non-Territory Campaign game

Last week we had intended to play two games for the Seven Sump Seas Pirate Adventures campaign in which the winners would win a Location (and associated territory) but one player had to back out for the week so I played one game against Frederico Finalio's Venerators.  It was a campaign game but not for a Location.

We decided to play the Harbour Cargo Takeover scenario from Book of the Sump since neither of us had played the scenario before.

Backing up a bit let me share a link to the campaign packet I created for our loose perpetual campaign for the Seven Sump Seas:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/39g7a9bqejkrg71/SumpSeaCampaignRules.pdf?dl=0

I just wanted to create a loose outline so the four of us would have some structure each week.

Getting back to last week's game.  Captain Bonney Steve's Pirate crew was the Defenders and Frederico's crew was the attackers.

His mission was to grab the loot crates on the Barge in the center of the board and bring them back to his deployment zone.  My objective was to stop him.  I started with 4 Sentries with the rest of my gang in reserve and he had a starting crew of 7.

Here is the deployment:

Frederico Finalio and his crew all bunched up in one spot.

Cornelius Essex was deployed in the Co-Dependent Sump Newspaper building.

Benjamin Hornigold is sneaking around a crane right next to a small boat.

Thomas Woolerly is on the main dock that the Barge is on.

"Red Legs" Greaves is watching the Barge dockside while Frederico sneaks up behind him.

Immediately "Red Legs" gets shot, falls in the Sump and goes Out of Action!

Frederico's gang moves quickly securing boats.

"Jolly" Roger, the Ogryn arrives from reserves right behind two of the Venerators.

Benjamin Hornigold gets shot at and drops to the ground, pinned.  Cornelius Essex maneuvers his boat to get the Barge in an attempt to slow down the other gang.

Frederico's crew quickly takes over the barge and grabs all three loot crates.

"Jolly" Roger smashes in the head of one of Frederico's crew while the
other Venerator is watching the Barge.

Frederico gets a loot crate to the dock on a small boat.

Bartholemeu Roberts arrives from reserves and shoots a Frag grenade into the midst of Frederico's crew but its mostly ineffective.

Frederico's crew continues to deliver loot crates to the opposite shore.

"Jolly Roger" gets shot and falls into the sump!  Luckily he doesn't drown.

The game ends with "Jolly" Roger dog paddling to the shore.

Frederico Finalio's Pirate Crew wins the day!  They successfully snuck into a harbour controlled by Bonney Steve and stole three loot crates.  Bonney Steve will not forget this insult!

Stay tuned for the next installment of the Seven Sump Seas Necromunda Pirate Adventures!

Until then..

The Seven Sump Seas Necromunda Pirate Adventures continue

Our first game in the new 4-player campaign was a 4-player Boarding Action scenario from the Book of the Sump.  Each gang started in a corner with a boat.  The objective was to just take out as many enemy Pirates and enemy boats as possible in 8 turns.

I found this 2-Can Sump Coffee Stout and had to buy it:

Not actually as good as I had hoped, but very thematic.

One of the great things about this campaign is that all 4 of us have Pirate-themed gangs and three of the four of us have Outcast Gangs and the fourth gang is a Venerator gang.

We each had 7 gangers of our choice to take part in the battle.

My Pirate Crew are as follows:

Captain "Bonney Steve" Bennet the Gentleman Pirate

First Mate "Fiery" Jack

Bartholemeu "Bart" Roberts

Bartelby De Jager

Benjamin Hornigold

Cornelius Essex

Jean du Casse

"Red Legs" Greaves

Thomas Woolerly

Vincenzo Alessandri

"Jolly" Roger

On to pics of the battlefield and the game.

Here is the board with the Sump Beer can as part of the terrain. We ended up removing i from the board but I think I am going to incorporate it into some Sump terrain in the future.

In each corner there is a boat, which is the deployment zone for each gang.

Here is another angle of the board; pre-deployment.

This would end up being my deployment corner.

I brought my new treasure chest full of dice and markers themed for the Pirate campaign.

Pirate Captain Bonney Steve Bennet making a bridge with his boat to help the rest of his crew onto the floating platform.

The Pirates begin moving onto the platform when they see another pirate emerge from the sump in a Subnautican Suit.

Captain Steve tries to shoot the Subnautican with his Shotgun.

Captain Steve finally hits his target who then gets pinned on top of the platform.

Meanwhile Frederico Finalio rams his boat into another Pirate Crew's boat
and charges onto it taking it over.

Captain Steve has more important things to do at the moment than worry about Frederico Finalio as another Pirate vrew tries to dock at his platform with an Ambot in tow!

The Ambot charges onto the platform but can't quite make the charge.  He is then hurt and pinned with Captain Steve and Bartholemew Roberts' shooting.  Captain Steve and Roberts are then both pinned.

Frederico Finalio, after having dispatched one pirate crew is now heading for Captain Steve.

One of Frederico's Crew is on top of the tall platform advancing as his captain takes the boat.

Most of Captain Steve's crew is hurt but they refuse to bottle as the game ends.

All four of the boats were free to the gangs in this scenario.  Frederico's gang won the mission but everyone ended up getting some credits; which was one reason I chose this mission for the week.  Captain Steve ended up with no lasting injuries and my crew came out of this with 4 in Recovery heading into the next week but no one was killed outright, so a win in my book.

I have decided that the really large ship called "The Revenge" which I posted pics of in my previous blog entry would be Captain Steve's final goal as a Pirate; he needs to buy that ship eventually.

I have decided to not buy any new gangers or buy them any gear upgrades.  I am simply stashing away all of my credits in my stash and saving up for the ship.  Another experiment with this gang is that outside of Captain Steve and "Jolly" Roger, my Ogryn, no one has any armor.  I have come to think that unless the armor is really good like a 3+ or 2+ save then its not super useful and I am testing that theory in this campaign.

Next blog post I will have last week's game and I will post up the Campaign Packet that I have made for this campaign.  I decided I needed to codify some things so we had a general outline of what we would be doing from week-to-week.

Until then...

The Seven Sump Seas Pirate Adventures Campaign

About 6 weeks ago we started what I like to call the Seven Sump Seas Pirate Adventures Necromunda Campaign.  We didn't have a strong structure when we started, it was originally just going to be a once a month game set in the sump using the Book of the Sump rules.

The first game night was during the Downtime week of the Outlander Campaign I was running.

It was a great night of games!  We played two scenarios which we made up on the spot.  The idea was that I would have my big Ship (the Revenge) with my full Pirate crew on it.  We had 7 other players I believe and they had only 3 gangers and they had to make it to my ship.  The first 3 gangs to make it onto my ship would be on my team.  We used the entire table which is about a 3' x 14' table.

My Ship is not yet painted and the gang was only partly painted at this point.

Here are some pics from that game:

The "Revenge" starts docked.

Here's a better shot of the "Revenge".

An outcast Ganger is climbing the crane trying to get to the ship as it leaves dock.

As the Revenge starts moving a member of a Palatine Enforcer gang leaps
onto the deck from the crane, following the Outcast ganger's lead.

Another outcast tries to jump onto the ship's poop deck as it sail close
to some submerged piles of refuse.

The last gang to get a member on the ship is an Escher gang whose ganger used their grapnel launcher to hurdle themselves through the air from a tower onto the Revenge's forward deck.

At the end of this first game I had my team, Eschers, Outcast, Enforcers.  This team will be used on the once-monthly games.  During the regular weekly campaign we've split the main group into two smaller groups of 4 and 3 gangs which will be doing their own smaller campaigns.

Game 2 was a boat race.  I took the huge Revenge off of the table and we rearranged a few pieces and then deployed a number of small boats to use as our racing boats.

Here are some pics from the boat race game:

My boat with Captain Bonney Steve Bonnet the Gentleman Pirate won!  Our team split the profits and we each ended up with 70 credits.

3 weeks later we played our second game.  This time it was the Great Sump Spider Hunt!  The objective was just to have everyone hunting various Sump creatures to make some money.  We had several huge Great Sump Spiders and a number of other beasties like Sump Crocs that were being hunted.  Here are some pics:

The Sump at night.

Well this blog post is definitely long enough.  Next time I will show off Captain Steve Bonnet and his crew and I will have a battle report from our first 4-player game in our 4-player Sump Sea campaign.

Until then...
