Bruno's Wurst Company

Here is Bruno's crew, painted pics of them, rules, modifications for the Necromunda Ultrathon and other thoughts.

Bruno's Wurst Company are an Outcast gang from House Orlock, they are also Outlaws since they have unsanctioned Psykers and are being pursued by the Inquisition.

Bruno Tuffnow - Leader of Bruno's Wurst Company

Bruno's Gang Card

For the Ultrathon I bought the Psi-Amplifier Rarity (15), and Chain Glaive Rarity (7) from the Trading Post.  The Psi-Amplifier makes the Chain Glaive a Force weapon; it's rules are in the new Book of the Outcast.

Bruno's Profile is a Road Captain (Leader) from the Book of Iron's House Orlock Gang list.  Bruno's Archetype is Wyrd and I selected a second Psychic power from the Biomancy Discipline.

Oren Olachio, Champion

Oren's Gang Card

Oren has nothing special when it comes to weaponry or wargear with nothing more rare than a common rating.

Oren's Profile is that of a Champion from the Book of the Outcast.  Oren's Archetype is Wyrd and I selected a second Psychic power from the Telekinesis Discipline.

Eron Mathuin, Chanpion

Eron's Gang Card

Eron has a Bionic Arm Rarity (13) and a Servo Claw from the Orlock House's Armory.  His Plasma Pistol is also from House Orlock. His Mesh Armour, Armoured Undersuit and Smoke Grenades will hopefully get him to the fight.

Eron's profile is that of an Outcast Champion.  I upgraded his T by +1 and his Archetype is Brawler.  I selected a second skill so he has both Bull Charge and Crushing Blow.

Duala Nixfleet, Ganger

Duala's Gang Card

Duala's special kit is her Throwing Knives, a common item from the Trading Post.  Her Throwing Knives have Toxin which should help with killing tough opponents.

Ood Nephroi, Ganger

Ood's Gang Card

Ood is just an all around ganger that I also gave smoke grenades to help others get to combat and to provide some cover for himself.

Thor Gothod, Specialist Ganger

Thor's Gang Card

Thor uses the standard ganger profile for the Outcast gang.  He has a flamer and I gave him one of the available skills; Infiltrate.  I figured he could pop up somewhere unexpected and set the enemy on fire.

Yar Graffin, Ganger

Yar's Gang Card

There is nothing very special about Yar.  He is a Outcast Ganger with some decent weapons and armor.  His model is mostly from the the new Outcast ganger box.  I liked the idea of having a Sump Pirate in my gang who was down on his luck.

Sim "Running Rat" Smalls

Sim's Gang Card

Sim is an old original Necromunda Ratskin model.  He has a shotgun and a fighting knife.  I also gave him a Hazard suit which is represented by his rat skin, filter plugs and a drop rig to indicate he is ready for any eventuality.

Zexx Marquis, Specialist Ganger

Zexx's Gang Card

Zexx is an old original Necromunda model like Sim.  Zexx is an old Delaque model and I extended the barrel of his lasgun and gave it a sight to make it into a Long Las.  I gave the final extra skill and the second characteristic increase +1 BS to Zexx.  I figured he would be a good sniper with a better BS and has Overwatch to hit enemies before they can activate.

The whole gang

Bruno's Gang Roster

I had a great time assembling the gang and coming up with their backgrounds.  They are a well-rounded gang with close range shooting and long range shooting and good close combat abilities too.

Tonight I am going to be working on objectives and who knows maybe I will get the display board done too.

My plans for the display board are to make their gang hangout, the Gory Hole; a local tavern.

Until then...

Zexx Marquis, Yar Graffin and Sim Smalls all join the gang

Oren, Ood, Duala and Bruno were very down and depressed running and hiding from every shadow and every enforcer patrol for many months.

They all eventually started hanging out at the Gory Hole tavern again.

At the bar one day a tall man with a pirate hat was telling tall tales of adventures he had while "sailin' the sump".

He boasted about how he had the fastest ship in the Underfleet and how he had sailed the seven sumps seas and gained lots of wealth and fame.

Bruno became annoyed with him and asked where his ship was now.

"Lost it in a bet!" said the pirate.  "Lost it in a bet!" guffawed Bruno.  "That's ridiculous!  If I had a ship like that I would never risk losing it in a bet."

Yar Graffin

"Then ye have never had a bet as high reward as mine!"  retorted the pirate.

"Look I am glad you had a ship and I am happy it was the fastest ship in the seven sump seas but I am forming a crew and if you don't have a ship what can you offer me?"  Bruno said.

"I have knowledge of places people round here have never even dreamed of, I know of secret weapon caches and booty and treasure you could never imagine!"

"What's yer name?" Asked Bruno.

"Yar Graffin, at yer service!"

With Yar in tow, Bruno, Oren, Duala Ood and Thor were easily able to attract the last two of their new crew.

The sharpshooter Zexx Marquis and the tracker Sim "Running Rat" Smalls.

Zexx Marquis

Sim "Running Rat" Smalls

Zexx is an ex-Delaque and Sim is a Ratskin Renegade.  Ratskins never fully lose their roots and so he still considerds himself a Ratskin even though he had broken off contact with his clan many years prior to meeting Bruno.

Next time I will have a group shot of them finished and some rules detailing how I will be playing this rag tag group in the Necromunda Ultrathon this weekend.

Until then....

Enter Ood Nephroi and Duala Nixfleet

To continue the origin story of Bruno's gang we would be remiss if we didn't mention two of the possibly most important and most impactful pair of misfits Bruno had ever met.

Ood Nephroi

Bruno had become accepted into Oren's group of misfits, outcasts, mutants and wyrds.  He had finally felt like he belonged somewhere.

Oren began working with Bruno to hone his psychic powers and he began to learn how to use and control them and this training didn't go unnoticed.

One time when Oren and Bruno were at a local tavern called the Gory Hole, a strange pair of characters approached them.

"Ood Nephroi and ..."  "Duala Nixfleet at your service.."  A tall pale-faced femme with black eyeliner and lipstick accompanied by a shorter, stocky gas-masked male introduced themselves to Oren and Bruno.  Bruno looked at Oren and Oren shrugged and whispered, "I've never seen these two before."  Then turned to them and said, "Why would we need your service?"

Duala Nixfleet

"Your talents have been observed and greater powers are now interested." hissed Duala.  "We aren't interested in any greater..." said Oren before being cut off by Bruno, "Go on.."

"Just meet us at St. Drusus and Cornwall street tomorrow night at the witching hour and we can introduce you to people who can explain more..." said Ood.

At that moment Duala held out an 8-pointed pendant and both Bruno and Oren both felt something they had never felt and they were compelled to comply.

The next night they met Ood and Duala and were introduced to The Cult of the 8-pointed Deity.  Bruno and Oren began going to meetings on a regular basis and over the next few months they got more and more involved.

Duala and Bruno became close and she led him to secret shrine where a book had been left centuries ago.  He picked up the book and power flowed through him.  The Lecticio Divinatus glowed as he held it.

Ood, Bruno and Duala would spend days digging through the book, going over summoning circles and different psychic incantations.  Until one day when everything changed.

A whole wall of Oren's hideout exploded inwards and then las blasts followed the explosion.  "In the name of the emperor!" was heard as a dozen black armored troops led by a tall man in red power armour stormed into the hideout.

The mutants fought back but were over powered and only Oren, Bruno, Ood and Duala narrowly escaped.

They were then on the run.....

The tales of Eron Mathuin and Thor Gothod

Getting back to the story of Bruno's life up until this point...

After meeting Oren and his group of mutants another mutant quickly got Bruno's attention and earned his respect.

Beastman Thor Gothod

As Bruno entered Oren's secret hideout, he smelled the sweet fumes of obscura and lho sticks.  He heard laughing and lots of conversations.  He also saw tables and chairs, a bar with a bar keep, people of all walks of life: some obvious mutants some not so obvious, drinking talking and playing various games of chance.

Oren was not only running a secret haven for mutants who were rejected from society but also a speakeasy and gambling den.

One mutant stood out from the rest.  He was playing cards at a table not far from the entrance and he had to horns sticking out of his head, had hooves, fur and had goggles on his head with multiple magnifiers made for seeing things that were very small.  He had a cigar in his mouth and was boasting how his hand was by far the best at the table and was daring the mutant with blue skin across the table from him to bet against him.

The blue-skinned mutant then slammed his hand on the table and screamed at the beastman that he was cheating. The blue-skinned mutant pulled a stub revolver and was about to shoot when the beastman slapped the pistol out of his hand, jumped on the table and was about to gore the blue-skinned mutant when a huge man on the other side of the table grabbed the blue-skinned mutant by the arm and grabbed the beastman by the neck with his large metal claw that had at one point replaced his arm, and picked them both up.

"I am trying to play cards!" the big man yelled.  "Settle down Thor and Eron" said Oren, "let's not put off our new friend just yet."  Oren nodded sidelong at Bruno.

Eron put them both down and the beastman grunted and said "That hurt Eron!" and the blue-skinned mutant ran out the door.

"Meet two of my closest friends; Thor Gothod and Eron Mathuin."  Bruno raised an eyebrow and was quite impressed with the speed and ferocity of both of them.

Eron Mathuin

Up next the story continues with Ood Nephroi and Duala Nixfleet.

Until then...

We don't talk about Bruno...

Let me tell you the story of Bruno and why we don't talk about him anymore.

Bruno Tuffnow, brother of Duke Tuffnow was exiled from House Orlock 15 years ago.  He was exiled not because he was a bad Orlock, not because he couldn't shoot, or ride, or drink or even negotiate or bargain with opposing gangs or power brokers.  No, he was kicked out of the only family he ever knew because he had a dark secret, one that he kept hidden at first unknowingly and then later kept secret for self survival.  Bruno Tuffnow was not like his brother or anyone else he knew within House Orlock.  Bruno was a Psyker.

Bruno Tuffnow

House Orlock's Iron Dogs, headed by Lucius Tuffnow, entered into an alliance with some shadowy factions with intentions to continue the Tuffnow legacy with unsanctioned cloning technology.  This technology is not endorsed by most segments of the Imperium and has been kept a secret for many decades.

Lucius decided he needed to have a direct line of succession.  He had himself cloned and Duke Tuffnow was the result.   A successful unmodified clone-son.  But Lucius was not satisfied with simply a successful clone but he wanted one that was even better.  He wanted a clone that would be able to be smarter and faster and bigger and more rithless when dealing with the Iron Dogs' enemies.  Duke was only one of his clone-sons.  The other was Bruno.

Somehow during the process not only was Bruno made bigger and stronger but he had acquired psychic powers somehow.  They didn't manifest right away and he seemed like a fairly normal child.  The day after his 8th birthday, however, Bruno did something unexpected.  He climbed like a spider up a wall and hung from the ceiling.

At this point the family tried to cover it up and as he continued to manifest more and more strange psychic phenomena, they realized that something had to be done.

On his ninth birthday Bruno was taken late one night to a back alley deep in the underhive by his father Lucius.  It was Lucius' intention to end Bruno then and there.  But Bruno sensed his father's betrayal and he got incredibly angry and lashed out killing Lucius before Lucius had time to even scream.

Bruno then ran off into the night.

Bruno grew larger and stronger over the years.  His psychic powers began to grow with him.  He was able to evade the Inquisition with the help of not only his growing power but by a group of underground psychic mutants.

Oren Olachio is the mentor and father figure he needed.  Oren is an older quite powerful Telekine.  He has been able to harness his powers and use them better than most unsanctioned psykers.  He was the leader of a small group of mutants and psykers but now is part of Bruno's outcast crew.

Champion Telekine Wyrd Oren Olachio

That's it for now.  Next time we will check out the other Champion, Pit-Fighter Eron Mathuin and Beastman mutant Thor Gothod.

Until then...

Necromunda: Gang War!

Starting in January a Necromunda Gang War, aka part 2 of a Dominion Campaign will begin.

We are officially on Downtime and the Arbitrator has given us access to one more Boon from our Territories today and 250 extra Credits to use for the Gang War.

Below is the Gang Roster before the extra 250 credits and before I buy upgrades heading into the Gang War phase of the campaign.

Here are the Gang Cards.

The above cards and roster were generated using the Yak Tribe website.  I highly recommend using Yak Tribe if you are playing Necromunda either with the current rules or with the original Necromunda rules.

There are two Hangers-On that I am working on making into models.  I have a model for Krank Gearbox; its an extremely old Servitor model.  I have to figure out what model I should use as a slopper.

After this week we will have an extra 250 credits to spend on whatever we want and everyone will be out of recovery.

I am awaiting word back from the arbitrator as to whether we can freely swap equipment and weapons in and out of our stash or if we have to use alternate equipment sets.  This will determine how I send my credits before the Gang War.  I know I am not going to recruit any new gangers but I do want to upgrade weapons and armor significantly on my characters.

Until next time...

The Infestation of the Water Guild Settling Pond VG-37

Angelica Tuffnow mulled her options.  After the Goliaths attacked her turf and broke their captive out of her jail, her cousin Duke Tuffnow head of the Iron Dogs Orlock gang that ruled the area her gang called home, had kicked her out.  He had told her that she shouldn't return until she had enough credits to pay him back for the lost income the Goliath ganger would have brought in after being sold to the Guilders.

Angelica took her gang and left Sector 1.  The Iron Angels went on a trek to an Escher and Water Guild-controlled region.

"This is interesting...." said Angelica to Rad Gruffhouse, Iron Angels Road Sergeant.  Angelica and Rad had gone to a local watering hole to try to find some work for the Iron Angels.

"Killing Sump Beasts, huh?" replied the hulking Rad Gruffhouse.

"The Water Guild pays well for their their destruction." said Angelica.

Angelica and Rad met back up with their gang who were waiting in an alleyway two blocks from the bar.  "We're going Sump Beast hunting!" cried Angelica.  "This is Escher territory and there is a particularly nasty crew who runs this sector." Bull MacAcfee, the Arms Master was a brute of a man.  He towered over the other Orlocks and his response showed both that he knew the area and that he wasn't particularly excited about fighting the Eschers.  "Better bring my respirator" continued Bull.

The Iron Angels then took off for Settling Pond VG-37.

I went out to my friend PenDull's house to play this scenario which he came up with.  Below is the scenario in case anyone else wants to try it.  I would recommend dropping the -2 to hit the Sump Tentacles, it made the Tentacles much more difficult to kill.

Here are some shots of the battlefield:

The Iron Angels deploy up high and try to initially stay off the ground where the tentacles will start showing up.

Angelica, Fio and Xak Frakker deploy at the end of a bridge.

The Escher prepare to counter the Orlocks.

The Escher with the Grenade Launcher will prove to be a thorn in the side of Angelica.

Angelica starts crossing the bridge as tentacles rise up out of the muck.

Bull MacAfee and Vladimir Krakow sneak onto the balcony of the Ball Bearings factory.

An Escher ganger casually saunters down a graffiti-filled alley.

The Escher ganger prepares to scale a ladder.

An Escher advances down the walkway to the Ball Bearings factory, while the champion with the Grenade Launcher lines up a shot on Angelica Tuffnow on the bridge.

Bull MacAfee cuts a hole through the screen, climbs through and pops the Escher in the face with his dual pistols, dropping her, pinned to the ground.

Vladimir Krakow jumps over to the second floor right above a loot crate.

The Escher Leader moves in to try and save the down Juve's life.

Rad Gruffhouse opens up on an Escher ganer with his heavy bolter and scores 5 hits, five wounds, and then rolls 2 flesh wounds and 3 serious injurys.  I have had a really bad rolling streak recently.

Fio Tuffnow jumps over the rock outcropping and fires her two autopistols on full auto and pins an Escher.

The Sump Larvae finally rears its ugly head and goes straight for the Escher leader.

Angelica Tuffnow tries to take advantage of the close combat and fires into it trying to kill either the Sump Larvae or the Escher Leader.  At this point in the game, Angelica has taken two flesh wounds from the Grenade Launcher and also has lined up shots at multiple enemies, hitting on 2s and rolled ones twice.  This shot is the third time I rolled a 1 when I only needed a two for her.

Xak Frakker moves down the length of the bridge and fires on the Grenade Launcher Escher champion while Vladimir Krakow powers up his jump pack and zooms towards the same champion revving up his servo claw.

Vladimir fires his jump pack and slams into the Escher leader at full speed.

Vladimir hits three times and wounds three times and the Escher Leader rolls three saves.  She then attacks back and seriously injures Vladimir and then coup de gras him.

At this point The Escher Leader had killed the Sump Larvae and we had to begin rolling a d6 and on a 4+ the game would be over.

Fio Tuffnow jumped onto the roof of the blue building to grab a loot crate, then an Escher ascended the ladder and shot her.  Fio got up next turn and grabbed the crate again.

Across the table Rad Gruffhouse grabs another loot crate.  Shortly thereafter, a 4+ is rolled and the game is over.

"Hurry, we have to get Vladimir to the Rogue Doc!" yelled Angelica, as she Fio and Xak rushed to the nearest underground medical den.

"It's a good thing you got him here when you did, another 20 minutes and I wouldn't have been able to staunch the bleeding." said the Rogue Doc.

Vladimir lay on the table with bandages wrapped around his head.  "Leave me Angelica and save yourself there is no reason to risk yourself!" said an exasperated Vladimir.  "What's the diagnosis doc?" Asked Angelica.  "Its just an eye injury, he'll be fine." Said the Doc.

The loot crates yielded enough credits to pay the doc but Vladimir would be in recovery for a game.  They also allowed Rad to buy a Suspensor for his heavy bolter.  With 60 credits left, The Iron Angels would have some credits to show for themselves when they returned to Sector 1.

Until then...
