Podcast Round up

So I have been listening to quite a few podcasts recently and I thought I'd share them with all of you out in the interwebz universe. I know probably a lot of people who are involved in 40k around the web are already familiar with a number of these podcasts but I bet a bunch of you don't even listen to them.

I find them to be great to listen to while painting. They are a great alternative to music and also to crappy tv and crappier talk radio.

A number of years ago I used to listen to 40K Radio almost exclusively. It was a fantastic show. They were funny, interesting and seemed like a crew of guys that me and my gaming friends could easily game with. Since the original 40k Radio crew quit and a new crew has taken over I feel the show is not nearly as good as it once was.

I didn't want to give up podcasts 'cause I love 'em, so I went looking for other ones. Luckily for me a bunch of new ones have popped up over the last year or so.

Here are some of my favs:

The Independant Characters - These guys are most likely my favorite newer podcast because they delve into more of the 'hobby' aspect of the game. In fact their newest podcast is about Narrative Gaming. They have a pretty good community built up in their forum as well.

The D6 Generation - These guys are not really new, but they are still consistantly good. They are incredibly easy to listen too and are very funny and informative. They are always reviewing new games and they really aren't a 40k centric podcast, but I find that that really doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show. (which is a good thing)

World's End Radio - This podcast comes from Australia and its neat to hear what they are up to down under. They are big into Blood Bowl and Fantasy Battle but they also talk a lot about 40k and GW in general.

The 11th Company - This podcast comes from some where down south. Not really sure where, but the southern drawl from some of the hosts is definitely entertaining. They focus mainly on the 40k tournament realm. They have recently covered all of the new FAQs that have come out as well as the new Forgeworld Apoc supplement. They do interviews with bloggers and tourney organizers as well as other 40k players and people associated with the hobby. They are a weekly podcast so they put out quite a bit of material. Their recent episode 100 is worth listening to because they renamed it the WAAC podcast and its a pretty funny spoof episode.

Deepstrike Radio - These guys I haven't listened to yet but I just downloaded their newest episode. I read a review of their show on another blog and it sounded interesting. They do a lot of fluff and hobby stuff.

Thats my round up for now.

  1. The Independent Characters are well worth listening to and I eagerly anticipate their next episode every time one's announced.

Deepstrike Radio sounds like it'd be real interesting - thanks for the suggestion!
